Day 1-4 Chitwa Chitwa/Sabi Sands
The Sabi Sand is one of South Africa’s premier safari destinations. Sharing a border with the Kruger National Park means that the abundance of wildlife in the area is even greater, making game drives exciting and unpredictable.
Chitwa Chitwa is one of the most romantic and exclusive safari lodges in South Africa. The accommodation is luxurious and the game viewing excellent.
Your stay at Chitwa Chitwa will include 2 daily game drives, with tea and coffee in the mornings and appetizers and sun downers in the evenings. In addition to drives, guests can also take bush walks when available – a fantastic way to see smaller wildlife often missed on drives. Meals at the lodge are consistently excellent and all preferences can be catered to.
Day Day 4-8 Queen Victoria Hotel/Cape Town
From Sabi Sand, fly down to Cape Town for 4 nights. Here you’ll stay in the bustling V&A Waterfront, at the boutique Queen Victoria Hotel. Staying in the waterfront puts you within walking distance of a wide range of restaurants, great activities and plenty of shopping.
From the Waterfront you can take a ferry to Robben Island, sunset cruises and even helicopter flips around the peninsula. A quick drive will take you to the city bowl, Company’s Gardens and quirky sidewalk cafes of the many fascinating side streets in Cape Town’s center. The Cable Car station for Table Mountain is also within several minutes drive, as are the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. It’s also recommended to take a drive to Cape Point, passing the beautiful towns of Kalk Bay and Simonstown.
Day 8-10 Birkenhead House/Hermanus
After Cape Town, take an approximately 2 hour drive to the charming seaside town of Hermanus, South Africa’s whale watching capital. Hermanus boasts great land based whale watching (as well as boat trips), fantastic restaurants, nearby wineries, lovely local markets and a wealth of activities.
Birkenhead House offers a luxury base from which to explore Hermanus and its surrounds. Whale watching from the hotel itself is excellent, and the beautiful pool area a tranquil and beautiful spot to relax.
Day 10-12 Majeka House/Stellenbosch
Finish your South African tour in the picturesque Winelands, at luxury boutique hotel Majeka House. Located on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, Majeka House is near to a great range of wineries, including Waterford, Delaire Graff, Tokara, Rustenberg, Jordan and more.
Your last 2 nights in the country will be spent relaxing in the Winelands, enjoying gorgeous views and fine wines from a selection of the hundreds of wineries in the area. From Stellenbosch, drive over the Helshoogte Pass to historic Franschhoek (about 30 minutes by car) and its surrounding vineyards. In addition to wine tasting, walking around the beautiful towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek provides a myriad of picturesque cafes, tree-lined streets and interesting shops.
