Thailand is a popular place to visit and apart from the smaller islands and the mainland city of Bangkok, Phuket is also a great tourist spot. With great food, culture, scenery and attractions, Phuket is a bustling island, the biggest island in Thailand. It has quite a lot of activities and sights to fill your holiday.
The local markets inn Phuket offer great bargains and souvenirs. There are day markets and night markets as well. Night markets have an attraction as they usually have street performance, diverse foods and great music. You can buy your evening meal from the food vendors and eat while listening to music or watching a performance then shop to your heart’s content! The night markets include Chillva Market, a local market, reasonably priced and located on Yaowarat Road, Phuket Weekend Market, one of the largest markets that gets quite crowded, Phuket Indy market, a cool place to buy from independent traders and Phuket Walking Street market with its old Sino-Portuguese houses, vibrant colors, traditional foods and handicrafts, apparels, performers and buskers to make your shopping an unforgettable experience.
With great beaches, sea, and tropical weather, the island has numerous watersports.
Snorkeling, while viewing the amazing coral reef and sea creatures, is great as it requires little training. You can experience this on many spots such as KataNoi, Paradise and Laem Singh beaches.
With many places in Thailand offering scuba diving courses, Phuket is one such place. You can get a little training and then explore the underwater while at it. There are many diving spots such as Racha Yai, Similan, Phi Phi and Racha Noi islands that you can dive off. You can also choose to have a private diving excursion or go as part of a bigger group depending on your budget.

With the warm weather and clear waters, jet skiing will help you enjoy a sea breeze and have the time of your life. There are many operators especially in Patong, Karon, Sutin, Bangtao and Kata beaches.
Kayaking is offered at most hotels as it is a great way to explore and exercise. You can also go Kayaking at Phang Nga Bay, Hong and James Bond islands.
This sport is offered at the two wakeboard parks where training and equipment is offered, not to mention great adjacent accommodation and dining places.
With big waves rolling in during the monsoon season, you can surf in the west coast area especially on Kata Beach. Other sports include swimming and fishing.
This is a huge Buddha image that sits atop the Nakkerd Hills overlooking Rawai, Kata and Chalong. The site attracts visitors and spiritual tourists who flock to the 45 meters tall image and stop by the shrine to pay their respects.
